Dumbo is the main character of a Walt Disney feature film of the same name from 1941. The animation adopts the Dumbo children’s book by Helen Aberson (text) und Harold Pearl (illustrations).
Jumbo Jr., a little circus elephant, is ridiculed for his oversized ears by all the other elephants who nickname him Dumbo. Together with his only friend, the cunning mouse Timothy, he later discovers that these big ears enable him to fly – which makes him star of the circus and an international celebrity.
Due to the phenomenal success, Disney released several sequels and an animated TV series.
