Description:

Sleeping Beauty is one of the classic fairy tales written down by the Brothers Jacob (1785-1863) and Wilhelm (1786-1859) Grimm. The famous story full of romance, magic, tension and adventure has been adopted for several movies and films. 1959 the most successful Sleeping Beauty film was released by the Disney Studios.

Within 7 years of production Disney created the most ambitious and most expensive animated movie to date. Enhanced by Tchaikovsky’s gorgeous waltz music the film tells about a beautiful princess named Aurora, who has been cursed at her christening by the evil witch Maleficent: On her 16th birthday she would prick her finger on a spindle and die. Three good fairies – Fauna, Flora and Merryweather – call up all their magical powers to lift the curse. Instead of dying the princess and her royal household shall only fall fast asleep. And a prince’s kiss shall bring them back to life. Together with courageous Prince Philip the three fairies fight the wicked and evil witch Maleficent and overcome a thick thorn hedge to free Aurora and the whole enchanted empire.
