Today Van Helsing belongs to the notorious Universal Monsters Universe and is known as the most successful and most dreaded vampire hunter of all times.
Van Helsing first appeared in Bram Stoker’s novel “Dracula” in 1897. 1931 he made his silver screen debut in the Universal Studios’ classic movie Dracula.

Universal Pictures and The Sommers Company are a promising combination. Up to now, their successful franchise “The Mummy” has already yielded more than 1 billion US dollar worldwide. Stephen Sommers is again responsible for script and direction – he has the vision and the concept to transfer the great notion of Universal Monsters into a great movie.

Van Helsing is a “dark hero” caught in the never-ending battle between good and evil. His dangerous mission leads him into a far-away East-European country where he shall find the root of all evil that spreads from there all over the country – find it and fight it. There he meets the classic Universal Monsters – Dracula, Frankenstein and the Wolf Man – but also new sinister creatures.

In Germany the movie saw its theatrical release in May 2004.
