It is the year 2030 – the scientist Doctor Boyton creates the android Astro Boy to replace his little son Toby who died in a car accident. Although Astro Boy is a perfect copy, Doctor Boyton becomes soon dissatisfied with his creation – mainly due to the fact that the android is not human and will never grow up. He sells Astro Boy to the cruel circus owner Hamegg. With the help of Dr. Elefun Astro Boy escapes slavery and henceforth fights crime, evil and injustice. Besides his super powers like internal jets, mighty weapons, lasers and an electro- heart Astro Boy has also human emotions. As most robots, Astro Boy is subject to the First Robot Law: Robots must not harm humans.

Astro Boy (Tetsuwan Atomu) is the most famous creation of Osamu Tezuka (1928–1989), Japan’s first-ever Manga artist.
