The plot:
Shrek is unwilling to run the country – and while he is looking for Fiona’s cousin whom he wants to take the reins the throne is in serious danger.

The back story:
Shrek is a CGI animated feature film by DreamWorks Studios which successfully captured the audience in 2001. The fantastic world of Shrek with its unique and jaw-dropping animation created by DreamWorks artists lets the cinema-goers forget that Shrek in fact is no life-action movie. “Shrek” was a mega success and even won the famous Oscar award.

Shrek the Ogre is a big, green, ugly mythical creature with a bad odour. As anyone is afraid of him, Shrek is filled with bitterness and retreats into a foul far-away swampland. One day fanatic emperor Farquaad decides to shunt all fairy creatures off into Shrek’s swamp. To get his home back, the ogre has to go on a dangerous mission – together with an extremely talkative donkey. Only when he rescues Princess Fiona from a tower guarded by a fierce dragon and brings her back to Farquaad he will be left alone in his swamp.
This modern and imaginative fairy tale animation is not only for children – also grown-ups will enjoy the many satiric skits.

On July 1st, 2004 the sequel Shrek 2 made its silver screen debut. After Princess Fiona turned out to be an ogre-lady herself in part one, Shrek now dreams of a happy and peaceful life together in the swamps. But her parents disapprove of their new son-in-law. Fiona’s father charges PUSS‘N’BOOTS – a witty new character – with getting rid of this unloved ogre.
The second part of this satiric tale on the grouchy ogre was extremely successful in the US and Canada: According to the studios the film made 104.3 Mio US $ only on its first weekend. That ranks Shrek 2 second-best just behind Spider-Man 2 with 114,8 Mio US $ within three days two years before.
