Rodney Copperbottom is a little, intelligent robot boy living in a humble home in a sleepy village. His mother is a house-wife while his father earns their living as a dish washer. As Rodney is extra-ordinarily inventive he decides to try his luck with BigWeld Industries in Robot City. But disappointment follows on his heels: His idol Big Weld doesn’t have a say at his own company. New manager is Ratchet. Together with his mother Madame Gasket, the Queen of the Junk Press, he pursues a nasty plan: to stop the sale of spare parts in favour of expensive upgrades. Any robot who cannot afford the upgrades will be recycled. Rodney and his friends Fender and the kind-hearted Cappy start a revolution to protect the rights of all robots.
