1607 the mighty ship “Susan Constant” sets sails to bring English settlers into the New World. Many thousand miles away, at the coast of what later becomes Virginia, live the Powhanta-Indians – a tribe with strong traditions. Pocahontas, the beautiful daughter of their Chief, shall be married to Kocoum, a brave tribal warrior. But she believes that for her fate has something else in store.
Soon the two totally different cultures clash and conflicts are bound to occur. Kocoum is determined to attack the new settlers. The Chief’s daughter tries to bring about peace between her nature-loving tribe and the European invaders. Her first encounter with Captain John Smith, the English adventurer and soldier, is not without consequences …
The true story did not have a happy end – when the settlers arrived in New England, Pocahontas was only about 12 years old. Despite her young age, she was well-respected and helped the settlers to survive in the New World. Unfortunately, she died at the age of only 21.
1997 Disney released their direct-to-video sequel Pocahontas 2 – Journey to a New World. The Powhantas decide that Pocahontas shall accompany the English ambassador John Rolfe back to London, establish diplomatic relations and convince the White not to conquer their territories.
