NICK is a German subsidiary of the American TV Channel Nickelodeon and belongs to MTV Networks, a branch of Viacom, one of world’s leading creators of programming and content across all media platforms.

Nickelodeon’s success story started in 1977 in the United States. At that time the “Pinwheel” channel launched their programme specially designed for children. Only two years later, the channel broadcasted their shows throughout the States. 1981 the company renamed themselves “Nickelodeon” – a name originating from the times when film theatres were still called “NickelOdeons”, due to their fee which came up to exactly one Nickel.
Today, Nickelodeon is world’s leading producer of children’s programming, including cartoons, life-action series, news, game shows and many more. Most popular shows are “SpongeBob SquarePants”, “Rugrats”, “Jimmy Neutron” or “Danny Phantom”. Nickelodeon Movies also release feature films like “Rugrats – The Movie” and “SpongeBob SquarePants – The Movie”. With the debut of NICK on September 12th, 2005 world’s most successful children’s channel is able to adds “Germany” to their track record.
