Frank Elstner godfathered Europe’s most successful TV show when he hosted the debut show on 14 February 1981 in Duesseldorf. After 39 shows he passed the baton to Thomas Gottschalk. The new presenter took over from the 40th show on 26 September 1987 in Hof and stayed until 2 May 1992. After the 75th instalment Wolfgang Lippert hosted the classic show for about a year until Thomas Gottschalk returned for the 85th show on 15 January 1994.
