Deep under the sea lives Ariel the little mermaid – together with her father Triton, King of the Seven Seas and her sister mermaids. Yet Ariel is more than dissatisfied with her life and would love to live in the human world. One day she saves handsome Prince Eric from drowning in the deep blue sea and takes a liking to him. Despite the warnings of her friends Flounder the fish and the reggae-singing crab Sebastian Ariel makes a dangerous deal with Ursula the Sea Witch: If Ariel succeeds in getting the Kiss of True Love from Eric within three days, she may stay and live in the world of humans.

The original Disney’s animation dates back to the year 1989 and was continued by the sequel “The Little Mermaid II: Return to the Sea” in 2000.

An animated series on the adventures of Ariel and her friends before she left the sea premiered in 1992.

Disney’s The Little Mermaid is based upon the fairy tale "The Little Mermaid" written by Hans Christian Andersen (Denmark 1805-1875).
