Diddl is a character created by cartoonist Thomas Goletz. In August 1990, Goletz made the first sketch of "Diddl," at that time still as a kangaroo. In later sketches, the kangaroo developed into a jumping mouse with big ears and huge feet. According to Goletz, he gave his mouse the name "Diddl" simply because it suited her perfectly, as it sounded "cute, quirky and a bit cheeky".
