The most lovably beguiling bear of all time

Captain Bluebear is a human-like bear by Walter Moers. He became known through the puppet series "Käpt'n Blaubärs Seemannsgarn" in the "Sendung mit der Maus". Together with the rat Hein Blöd and his grandchildren the little bears Gelb, Grün and Rosa, he inhabits the stranded fishing boat Elvira, which lies on a rocky cliff near the fictional village of Rumsrüttelkoog. The series has been running regularly since 1991 towards the end of Die Sendung mit der Maus.

It is about „Captain Bluebear“, whose purpose in life is to tell his grandchildren sailor's yarns about his numerous past voyages. These are shown as flashbacks through cartoons. After the story is over, the grandchildren insist that it's all a lie, but proof of the story's veracity emerges.
